Η διαχείριση της πολιτιστικής κληρονομιάς της Αθήνας

The Netherlands Institute at Athens invites you to the third part of the new cycle of discussions that is organized this year entitled “
"Athens, modern capital and historic city New challenges for heritage management” "

The central theme of this cycle is the city of Athens and its heritage assets, which are discussed on the basis of an interdisciplinary approach by researchers and professionals from Greece and abroad.
Session 3
“The Cultural Heritage of Athens:
Contested Identities and Realities’’

  • Ioannis Poulios – cultural heritage management & sustainable development advisor: “Who owns the past? – the ‘experts’ vs. the locals: international developments and the Athenian reality”
  • Fotini Belliou – conservation architect: “The citizens of Athens and the protection of their monuments: identity, perception and struggles’’
  • Yannis Kallianos – social anthropologist: “Crisis, transformation of public space and the predicament of cultural value in Athens: an anthropological approach of socio-political practices”
  • Moderator: Nicholas Karachalis – adjunct lecturer in urban & economic geography

The event will take place on Monday, 16th December 2013, 7:00 p.m., at the Netherlands Institute at Athens, Makri 11 – Makrygianni (Metro Akropoli).

The discussions are open to academics, professionals and Master/PhD students who are actively involved or interested in cultural management and the city.
